Wonderful friendly, kind people—ship’s staff, tour guides, other guests on the ship, shopkeepers, restaurant waitstaff, and the Provençal and Burgundians we encountered on the street. There was none of the big city brusqueness that you have to deal with in Paris.
Beautiful countryside—lavender fields, vineyards, and pastures dotted with black and brown cows and white horses. Swans swimming serenely on the rivers as we passed. Stone farmhouses, centuries old, but still being lived in. Cathedrals, basilicas,and Parish churches. Roman built arenas and public buildings still being used.
