Sail away to tropical destinations like Panama, The Caribbean, the Bahamas, or through the Pacific Northwest all the way up to Alaska aboard the beautiful sunshine decorated Norwegian Sun. Noted as one of the smallest ships in the fleet, measuring in at 848 feet in length, this vessel offers a luxurious and cozy vacation for anyone who wishes to visit some of the most interesting and sought after vacation destinations in the western hemisphere. It was completely remodeled in 2018 and now offers a host of new activities, restaurants, boutique stores, and amenities that entertain, inspire, and provide for a relaxing stay. This ship is home to the expansive Stardust Theater, a regal auditorium that comes alive at night with entertaining acts that will take your breath away; several outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs, and shopping experiences that appeal to anyone with a flair for designer brands and fine jewelry. As part of the renovation project, this ship has completely redesigned staterooms that provide for a restful and relaxing stay. From mini-suites to luxury penthouses inside The Haven, you will be treated to new furnishings and plush bedding. Get ready for a cruise like you have never experienced before!

customers say

The Norwegian Sun receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising the friendly and hardworking staff, enjoyable itineraries, and good value for money. However, there are consistent criticisms regarding food quality, ship age, cabin comfort, and occasional issues with excursions and customer service. Entertainment and activities are generally appreciated, though some guests found them lacking compared to other cruise lines. The ship's cleanliness and atmosphere are mostly positive, but crowding and maintenance issues are noted. Overall, the Norwegian Sun offers a solid cruise experience, especially for those seeking value and a relaxed atmosphere, but may fall short for travelers seeking luxury or gourmet dining.

Service

Service is frequently highlighted as a strong point, with many guests commending the staff's friendliness, professionalism, and dedication. However, some guests experienced inconsistent service, particularly with cabin stewards and customer service.

"The best thing about this cruise was definitely the crew members who worked so hard to make us feel welcomed and have a good time."
"Norwegian Cruise Lines is a professional organization that caters to a more mature customer base. Their services are second to none and they strive to maintain this level of service."
"Service was not up to the standards that we expected from previous cruises. (When the tip is prepaid the servers act like it and it seems that there are fewer of them, meaning longer wait times)"

NCL Sun was average Destination we’re more exotic than what we normally cruise to and also more primitive as we went to Lofu New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and Fiji.

Service and staff were very good. Food was very good. The drink package was well priced and good. Excursions were way too expensive. There was no satellite for several days so were limited to the ships movies. It was Awful, limited and repetitive. Casablanca (1940's) and Fly Me To The Moon were the only movies besides children's/Marvel movies offered. Some of the ship activities were uninteresting. We experienced a couple shows and decided not to see any more. Overall we ended the cruise jokingly saying we've been cured of cruising. Most like will not cruise again unless we win the lottery

We lucked out with good weather most all days however the stop in Ketchikan had to be cancelled due to unsafe docking conditions amid bad weather. That turned out fine as we had more time in Victoria. The staff are very gracious and efficient. Great experience.

Food selection wasn't to my standards. Service in some venues was extremely slow. Will not sail with NCL again

“Beautiful Alaska”
3 Stars
Cruise Date: 09/09/2024
Destination: Alaska
Loved seeing the beauty of Alaska! Loved spending time with lifelong friends! But, I was not in love with the Norwegian Sun. It is an older ship and that shows. Our ocean view cabin had a shortage of storage and a water leak in the tiniest bathroom ever! The food in the Main Dining Rooms was adequate, but rarely was great. The Chocolate Lava Cake was delicious, and the only dessert I finished! Teppanyaki Restaurant was fun with lots of yummy fun! Internet was spotty. Getting on and off the ship was very easy! Staff was fantastic! Music in lounges was entertaining. Be warned the Sport
