Built for Freestyle Cruising, Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Star offers guests an endless array of options. Featuring more than 10 dining choices, Norwegian Star lets passengers choose whichever cuisine strikes their fancy, whenever they decide to eat, and provides the flexibility to eat with whoever they want to. Activities and “relaxtivities” onboard Norwegian Star range from spinning and yoga classes to rejuvenating spa treatments. In the evenings, nothing caps off a day of sightseeing and exploring various ports of call like a bubbly celebration in Gatsby’s Champagne Bar. The staff is friendly and helpful, the ship is spacious and full of excitement, and the staterooms provide a perfectly comfortable retreat. Norwegian Cruise Line's award-winning Garden Villas offer the most freedom of all with their overall space.  Named a Travel Weekly Magellan Award Gold Winner, Norwegian Star’s Garden Villas proudly boast up to 5,000 sq. ft. of space, three bedrooms, a private garden and sundeck, hot tubs, and a grand piano. Norwegian Star is a shining example of Norwegian Cruise Line's Freestyle experience, and with a variety of itineraries to choose from, it is no wonder  Norwegian Spirit is one of the top ways that travelers are enjoying their dream vacations.

customers say

The Norwegian Star receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising the friendly staff, interesting itineraries, and generally good entertainment. However, there are recurring complaints about food quality and variety, slow or inconsistent service, issues with ship maintenance and cleanliness, and dissatisfaction with port changes and excursions. The ship is considered a good value by some, but others feel it falls short compared to other cruise lines. Specialty dining and certain staff members receive high marks, but crowding, embarkation issues, and internet connectivity are notable negatives.

Service

Service on the Norwegian Star is frequently described as friendly, helpful, and professional, with many guests appreciating the crew's efforts. However, there are notable complaints about slow or inconsistent service in dining rooms and some negative experiences with specific staff, particularly in shore excursions.

"We met some wonderful crew members on the Norwegian Star who always went above and beyond to get us what we needed. They were always pleasant and welcoming."
"The ship was an older ship but the crew more than made up for it with their outstanding service and friendliness."
"The cruise staff, with the exception of the Shore Excursion staff, were wonderful. The Shore Excursion staff needs to learn manners and customer service."

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation. However, there was a stark contrast between the destinations and the cruise itself. I'll start off by saying all crew from stewards, to dining staff did a very good job. My wife and I don't really partake in entertainment onboard. For us, bed and food are our primary concerns onboard. Unfortunately, both there woefully inadequate. The bed was remarkably hard. So much so, that both my wife and I woke up sore every morning. Onboard, we dined at three specialty restaurants in addition to parking of regular dining and the buffet We found the food to be me

Took this cruise with friends who were first time cruisers. We loved the ship, but most of all the scenery. This trip allowed us all to return to Iceland together and to see a unique part of the world. Hiking in Greenland was super!

We liked the specialty restaurants and the included options of Ginza and O'Sheehans in addition to the two main dining rooms and the buffet. We had a good time on this cruise. However two negatives that really stand out. Norwegian changed ports and reduced port times a few months before sailing. Days before they cancelled 3 ports. They replaced one and added two sea days. They did NOTHING to make up for this when they easily could have. They are claiming weather and icy conditions but the facts are that they routinely cancel these ports. They cancelled ports on us last year in the Mediterranea
