The Best Caribbean Vacation Types
By Cruise
Whether you’re an avid cruiser or a first-time cruiser, there’s fun for every age, lifestyle and taste. From the moment you step onboard you’ll notice that most cruise lines have food ready and available 24 hours of the day. The food onboard every ship varies but select cruise lines offer specialty restaurants with menus crafted by Michelin-starred chefs, dishes from the islands you’re visiting and food for special and healthy diets. Or if you don’t feel like heading to a restaurant, you can order room service which is included for select cruise lines.
Each cruise line offers different entertainment but no matter which you choose you can expect fun-filled days and nights with world-class shows, casinos, kid’s clubs, themed bars and parties. While sailing to your ports, some cruise lines will play live or DJ spun Caribbean beats to set the mood throughout your vacation.

Did someone say all-inclusive? When you choose a resort, most are all-inclusive which means that you don’t have to worry about making reservations, how many times you order room service or how many cocktails are on the bill. Many resorts offer a variety of cuisines which are prepared by internationally-trained chefs who incorporate local ingredients in the dishes they prepare. And if you don’t feel like having a sit-down dining experience, you can always head to the grill which is an option at most resorts.
Many resorts also offer a wide range of activities like yoga classes, water sports, recreational sports like tennis, a kid’s club, special events and themed bars.
Caribbean Destinations
By Cruise
Sailing on a cruise ship is already a blast and gets even better when you hop on and off to ports-of-call in Jamaica, Mexico, Grand Cayman and Turks & Caicos. Each day is a new adventure and you can reserve shore excursions before you embark or while you’re onboard.
Imagine one day you could be snorkeling in Gibb’s Cay off Grand Turk, taking a mud bath or spending time at Zion Lion Farm in St. Lucia, or even kayaking the mangroves and seeing wildlife in St. Thomas. To enjoy these adventures and have the most options, we recommend you book your excursions ahead of time.
By Resort
Have you always had your mind on a Caribbean destination like Punta Cana, Cancun or Montego Bay? Choosing a resort will give you extra time in the place of your dreams. Most resorts are located conveniently on beachfronts and at select resorts you’re less than two miles away from the Caribbean’s best golf courses.
Most resorts offer excursions to nearby natural parks, water parks, historical sites and world-famous landmarks. Or if you feel like venturing out on your own, most resorts are centrally-located.
Comparing Accommodations
By Cruise
Guests on each cruise line are different just like the accommodations available onboard. On select cruise lines there are suites specifically made for families, cabins for solo travelers, balconies for honeymooners and areas onboard that are for adults only.
You can also choose what deck you would like to stay on depending on your needs. If you spend most of your time out by the pool and at the deck parties, we recommend you stay closer to the Lido deck of your ship. If you choose to stay in a balcony stateroom, which is available on select cruise lines, we recommend you stay on the left side of the ship. It’s typically where the ship docks and you’ll be able to see your Caribbean destination from your room.
By Resort
Each resort is unique and typically are catered to a specific type of traveler. There are many resorts that are geared towards family fun and offer connecting rooms. There are also resorts that are perfect for couples who can enjoy villas overlooking Caribbean cliffs.
No matter what resort you choose, most resorts offer 24-hour concierge service and luxurious amenities. Some resorts offer programs that allow you to enjoy activities at neighboring sister resorts too. Your options are unlimited, and you can prepare to feel pampered from start to finish.
